IPCS Students Tribute to September 11

Patriotism was evident at IPCS on September 11, 2002 as the students paid their tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack on the twin towers in New York City.

Under the guidance of music teacher, Donna Hansen, students planned an all school event that included singing and the reading of essays about September 11 written by students.

Please stand . . . .

I pledge allegiance to the flag . . . .

of the United States of America . . . .

You're a grand old flag, you're a high flying flag and forever in peace shall you reign.
You're the emblem of - the land I love - the home of the free and the brave!
Every heart beats true for the red, white, and blue
Where there's never a boast or brag
But should old acquaintance be forgot, keep your eye on the grand old flag!

IPCS teachers listen and enjoy the concert and essay readings.

Today is an important day. One year ago something heart breaking and terrible happened. The World Trade Centers and the Pentagon were hit with hijacker planes. Many people were killed and families hurt forever . . . babies with no dad or mom or sisters that can't be found.

That day black clouds went through New York City and there was screaming, crying, sirens, and whistles all through the land. There was fear in everyone's eyes and phone calls remembered forever. In the building lots of people were trapped and were worried about their loved ones. Phone calls were made to say good-bye and to let them know they loved them. Thousands of people died and will always be remembered.

We will also remember the firemen that lost their lives to save others and we will never let terroists win. We will be proud and not fall apart because of these tragedies.

Rachel read an essay about September 11 written by Carrie Hee, a former student.

Ellie read her poem:

The stars are bright, the moon is light
I see the ocean so blue and calm
While I hold so tight onto your palm
As a whisper goes through my ears
The noise suddenly appears
The small plane went in, the building came down
A foolish sin.

All that was found was a burnt crown
The crown can be the crown of Afganastan.
Everyone was so disappointed.
Then suddenly a little boy pointed
There's another plane
And soon it will do the same
Everyone was shaking.

As the building was cranking,
As both buildings caved in,
A little Afghan girl grinned and said
Now I must go to bed.

She gazed out to the stars
Only to fall asleep cudly and tight.

Amy read her essay.
