Standard 1 &endash; The student who is information literate accesses information efficiently and effectively.By the end of grade 2 the student will be able to:
- Identify information needs.
- Use the OPAC and be able to do a subject or title search.
- Locate materials on the shelves in the Easies section unassisted.
- Locate materials on the shelves in the Non-fiction shelves.
- Find an article in an encyclopedia using guidewords.
- Use the table of contents for information needs.
- Use the index for information needs.
- Identify various sources of information, which include books, encyclopedias, videos, atlases, and CDs.
- Use captions and illustrations or pictures as a source of information.
Standard 2 &endash; The student who is information literate evaluates information critically and creatively.
By the end of grade 2 the student will be able to:
- Take notes on a grid (as opposed to notecards).
- Cite the author and title of a source.
- Find pertinent information for information needs.
- Can identify the copyright symbol and has a basic understanding of its meaning.
Standard 3 &endash; The student who is information literate uses information accurately and creatively.
By the end of grade 2 the student will be able to:
- Use the information gathered to create a simple product.
- Assess simple product.
