Standard 1 &endash; The student who is information literate accesses information efficiently and effectively.By the end of grade 4 the student will be able to:
- Identify information needs and locate a variety of information sources.
- Use the OPAC using keyword search and locate materials using the call numbers.
- Locate magazines, atlases, and different types of databases (electronic or print)
- Use internet search engines.
- Standard 2 &endash; The student who is information literate evaluates information critically and creatively.
By the end of grade 4 the student will be able to:
- Select information relevant to question/problem from a variety of sources.
- Determine the most appropriate source for needed information.
- Take notes by identifying key words and using own words to record information.
- Cite all sources of information
- Compile a complete bibliography, using a standard citation form.
Standard 3 &endash; The student who is information literate uses information accurately and creatively.
By the end of grade 4 the student will be able to:
- Recognize the different forms of presentation and use the most appropriate format.
- Become familiar with an assessment rubric.
