To support student achievement, Maunawili uses software products from Renaissance Learning.
STAR Math and STAR Reading are computer adaptive diagnostic tool. STAR helps to determine the math and reading level of each student and measure individual and class growth . Scores from STAR are norm-referenced -- they measure a child's performance as compared to other children in the same grade level. Although STAR is a valuable tool for measuring student growth and guiding instruction, it does not measure all of the benchmarks of the Hawaii Content and Performance Standards.
Accelerated Reader: This program gives children an opportunity to practice reading comprehension. Students read a book then use the computer to take a reading comprehension quiz. Their data is stored and can be used for goal setting and instructional planning. Maunawili has hundreds of AR tests.
