Description: Maunawili's Enrichment program services children in grades 3 - 6. Students are nominated by their teachers or parents to be tested for the program. Testing is done in August. If selected, a student remains in the program unless the teacher or parent feels that the program no longer supports the child’s needs. In grades 3 - 4, the program is supplantive and the Enrichment Program is embedded with their Language Arts Curriculum. In grades 5 - 6, the program is supplemental and the students are pulled-out during their Intervention block for instruction on thematic units. The program is not an accelerated course that will advance the student's placement in his/her grade. The program is project-based in which the students work on projects either independently or in groups and they learn at a more advanced, mature, and creative level.

Once all the scores for each student have been collated, a screening committee made up of the administrator, an upper grade teacher, a lower grade teacher, and two other teachers meet to determine eligibility for the program. The names of each student is withheld and eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis.
