Step
1-Background information-Whole group participation
- Create a folder
on your computer to store all work from this WebQuest
- Begin by brainstorming
how technology could be used in the classroom. Using a graphic organizer
(Inspiration,
a drawing program like Claris or AppleWorks,
or PIViT)
organize your brainstorming into a graphic organizer. Save this
in your folder. Feel free to add to this brainstormed list as you work
through the WebQuest.
- What is the Web?
- State
of Hawaii Dept of Ed-Internet Overview-be sure to read the section
on What Can You Do on the Internet? Using
this site, add to your brainstormed list additional suggestions
on how you can use the Internet in the classroom.
- ISTE
Standards-What are they anyway? Visit the ISTE site and answer
the following questions:
- Where can
you find the technology standards for the grade level that you teach?
- Are you currently
teaching to these standards?
- How successful
have you been at meeting the Professional Technology Standards for
Teachers?
- Samples
of what the web has to offer-This site from Pacific Bell explores
common classroom categories and how they're represented on the web.
Look through these sites and visit the links to get a feel for each
category. For a more in depth description visit Tom March's- What's
on the Web?
- Some thoughts
on the technology and education-
- Threaded Discussion-after
completing the research above, go to the threaded
discussion and respond to the following statement:
Considering the technology standards for
your grade level as well as the technology standards for teachers,
- choose three ways that you would use
technology in your classroom,
- give rationale for your choices, and
- explain what learning would need to
take place by you as the teacher as well as by your students.
