The Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade classes learn the basics of Hawaiian culture. They learn things like Hwaiian greetings, values, and behaviors. They also learn the numbers, colors, family and members in Hawaiian. They also learn more about the land and ocean settings.
If I were to use the analogy of the kukui lantern. The students of this level would learn about the basic necessities that are needed in making the kukui lantern. They know the things that are needed to put together a kukui lamp. But they still need to learn how to actually make it.
Students are introduced to:
-Basic Hawaiian language
-Hawaiian names to parts of the body
-The ohana system - family system
-Elements of the mountain
-Elements of the ocean
