Jeff Stabile, Teacher/ Eric de la Pena, EA



This is Jeff's second year teaching in Hawaii, and he brings with him a 12 year involvement with the deaf, starting with a college sweetheart, extending into interpreting and finally teaching. One of his favorite subjects in school was math, and he is enjoying facilitating grreat math skills among the students at HCDB. Eric, a deaf man born and raised in Honolulu, is one of the stalwart Educational Assistants at HCDB, a math whiz who graduated from the Center and attended Gallaudet University in the '80s.

Tease Your Brain with Our Daily Math Starters! Math Starters!




We relate math to practical everyday living skills as well as promoting analytical thinking and an academic orientation to the field of mathematics. Our newly instituted Class Economy helps us with the first goal, and our Daily "Math Starters" are really getting the students into the latter two goals. Watch for this section to grow as we figure out how to make even more of our Math Activities web-accessible.
