School Community Council

Act 51, Session Laws of Hawaii 2004, known as the "Reinventing Education Act of 2004" in part requires "strengthening community involvement through school community councils."

In accordance with Act 41, the He'eia Elementary School Community Council was created to support school improvement and the academic achievement of students through increased community involvement in the school.

He'eia Role Groups: The six role groups of He'eia Elementary School shall be defined to include:

  • students enrolled at He'eia Elementary School
  • faculty employed at He'eia Elementary School
  • classified staff employed at He'eia Elementary School
  • school administrators of He'eia Elementary School
  • parents/guardians of students enrolled at He'eia Elementary School
  • community members who live and/or work in the HES attendance area or have a vested interest in the success of the students and school (such as an alumni or alumni parent).

He'eia School Community Council (SCC) Open Forum: The He'eia SCC Open Forum shall be composed of any members of the six role groups who attend advertised He'eia SCC Open Forum meetings. SCC Open Forum meetings will be held at least once per month at 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

He'eia School Community Council (SCC):The He'eia SCC is a smaller body to which issues will be referred when they cannot be decided upon by consensus in the Open Forum. It is composed of members from the six role groups as follows:

  • 1 student
  • 2 certificated staff
  • 2 non-certificated staff
  • 1 administrator
  • 2 parents/guardians
  • 2 community persons
