Site Information

Web Development: During the 2000-2001 school year the Student Council initiated development a web site in order to better serve the students of Kailua Intermediate School. The site was created by the Student Council advisor, Mr. Blain Shinno, and a team of 7th and 8th grade Leadership students. In the Summer of 2000, the team added the upgrading and maintenance of the main Kailua Intermediate site to our list of responsibilities.

Hardware: Most of the work on this site is done on a bank of Macintosh computers in the Leadership computer lab. The team uses the following computer systems and imaging hardware to maintain this site: 400 MHz Macintosh DV (Digital Video) iMac, 400 MHz Macintosh PowerBook G3, 300 MHz Power Macintosh G3, 400 MHz Pentium II, Canon Optura DV (Digital Video) camera, Olympus Stylus Zoom 115 camera, and a Microtek ScanMaker E6.

Software: Each web design and image editing program has its good and bad points. We use whatever works (especially since we don't like to read manuals): Microsoft Office 2000, Macromedia Dreamweaver 2, Macromedia Fireworks 2, and Adobe Photoshop 4. The basic layout and design for this site was done with Dreamweaver 2. It is updated with both FrontPage 2000 and Dreamweaver 2.

Acknowledgments: We would like to thank Elizabeth Garver and Darren Tanaka for their invaluable technical advice. Thank you also to Tyson Miyahira from Hawaii Island Creations for his assistance in the creation of our logo and banner.
