ART
The Art Program is taught by Marilyn Morikawa (6th grade wheel and 7th grade) and Robin Brooks (8th grade).
Grade 6 Wheel: Students are exposed to exploratory art experiences that will include skills and techniques while at the same time help to develop creativity, aesthetic awareness, and art appreciation.
Grade 7 Beginning Art and Design: A basic exploratory course in the fundamentals of art, providing students with opportunities to explore a variety of media and techniques and to become familiar with various basic art materials, tools, and equipment. Activities include experiences in both two and three dimensional areas of study, which emphasize students' expressive and creative aspects of necessary related skills, attitudes and understandings.
Grade 8 General Art: An introductory course in art, which covers drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and design. This course provides opportunities for students to use a variety of art media and techniques. Students will create two and three dimensional art products. Art forms of historical periods and diverse cultures are studied to help students make art.
