PHYSICAL EDUCATION
The physical education curriculum includes fitness, sports, and health related activities and instruction.
Grade 6 PE: This course is designed to be a basic introduction of skills for team sports. It is designed to equip students with skills and attitudes that will enable them to realize their full potential. It will cover a wide variety of activities that will help in development of basic motor skills. It will also include fitness and rhythm activities.
Grade 7 PE A: This course is designed to accommodate students who are at the beginner's level of skill development. It provides exploration in a wide variety of activities with opportunities to understand, appreciate, and develop efficient body movements and desirable personal-social concepts through participation in all physical education activities.
Grade 7 Teen Health: Students in this course will analyze their individual developmental needs and changing relationships with friends and family. Units of study include: physical, emotional, and special development; drug education; foods and nutrition; accident prevention and injury control; diseases; environmental health; community health; and consumerism.
Grade 8 PE B: This course is designed to accommodate students who are at the intermediate level of skill development. It provides for mastery of the basic and fundamental skils involving the use of the body in sports techniques; maintenance of fitness through a well-balanced program of activities and application of desirable personal-social concepts to participation in all physcial education experiences.
