On our field trip to Waikalua Loko Fishpond we met Uncle Herb. He taught us the five main parts of an ahupua'a. The first part was the mountains. Next, was the stream. Third, was the taro patch (lo'i). Then, it's the lokoi'a (the fishpond). Finally, at the bottom is the ocean. We made our own ahupua'a with sand and natural resources. We had to get the water from mountain to the sea. It was fun to work together with my classmates to create our own ahupua'a. I will remember doing this fun activity.
