I am a machine that measures earthquakes. I was invented in 1935. I have an ink pen attached to a long arm. When an earthquake occurs, the pen moves up and down making squiggly lines. The pen marks a paper that is on a moving drum. The stronger the earthquake, the farther the pen moves.
