Elasmosaurus
My research paper is on the Elasmosaurus, also known as the Thin-Plated lizard. It was called that because of its plate-like bones in the pelvic griddle. The Elasmosaurus was a large reptile that lived in shallow seas about 80 million years ago. It was the longest of the marine reptiles. The Elasmosaurus lived in the center of North America.
The Elasmosaurus was about 46 feet long and had a neck that was almost 26 feet long. It weighed about 5100 pounds. This reptile had 4 long paddle-like flippers, a tiny head and a pointed tail. The Elasmosaurus hunted fish with its needle sharp teeth and rapidly moving head.
