Kaua

The lowest class of people were the Kaua. There were very few of them, maybe they were what was left of the early people who came to Hawaii. They were the outcasts who lived on certain lands and grew their own food. Hawaiians could not mix with them. In fact, Hawaiians would not go near them. It was forbidden to go on kaua land and to eat food that they had grown or they would be put to death. Kaua usually wore tattoo on their forehead. Sometimes priests would call out a Kaua and sacrifice him to the god of war.
