LAN Overview

A modified star topology is used. The MDF is located under the main office. There are currently 8 IDF locations. Backbone wiring consists of fiber cabling to the upper elementary IDF, elementary lab IDF, Old ag IDF, and Votech mini-lab IDF. When the MDF system is upgraded to the Switch 4007, the high school lab will use its fiber connection. CATV connects the remaining IDFs: Science building, business lab, and lower elementary building. The lower elementary is daisy chained to the upper elementary IDF. The library has a connection to the science building.
All horizontal cabling is CATV.

A wireless component of the LAN is being planned and purchased at this time to ensure connection of all classrooms, especially areas that are physically problematic. This will also provide connectivity to the gym, teacher cottages, and other work areas. (LAN Maps pageXX)

Software placed on computers school wide is purchased by technology funds. Microsoft Office and Clarisworks/Appleworks are the main programs used across the school. Individual classrooms an departments purchase their own curriculum specific software.
