Welcome to the Virtual Volcano Excursion page for our school's web site. With the help of Dr. Steve Mattox, a group of grade 8 computer elective class students was able to organize this section of the Waiakea Intermediate School Homepage. A link to the main VolcanoWorld can be accessed here. VolcanoWorld

Our page for VolcanoWorld contains information about Kilauea Volcano, our very own active volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii, and the effects it has on living in Hawaii. The eruptions from the Puu Oo vent have led to much research conducted on the Big Island in geology, as well as, in health. Dr. Mattox helped to make much of the information available to us as we performed our research. In addition, we used his Teacher's Guide To The Geology of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and other library books as references. Material from the State of Hawaii Department of Health helped with the research on vog.
