Seniors

The Horatio Alger Association is now accepting applications for scholarship opportunities from current high school seniors. For the past several years, recipients of the $20,000 Horatio Alger National Scholarship Program have included high school seniors from Hawaii.  In addition to the national scholarship opportunities, this year the Horatio Alger Association is also offering five $5,000 scholarships specifically to Hawaii high school seniors. Step Up 2009-2010 Hawai‘i P-20 is pleased to announce that we will be opening our new Step Up Pledge Year on September 1, 2010.  We will be encouraging the Classes of 2014 and 2015 to take the Step Up Pledge.  Both classes will have until May 31, 2011 to pledge. More information is on the Step Up page.

Submit Yearbook Pictures:  Anyone (students, staff, parents) submitting photos for consideration by the yearbook staff may upload them at KKHS.Yearbook@gmail.com. Info that must be included:

  • Description of Photo (what is it, when was it taken, where was it taken, why was it taken)
  • Identification of People in Photo
  • Identification of Photographer
  • Contact Information for Photographer

Yearbook Cover Design Contest:  Students are encouraged to enter a design for the 2011 Yearbook cover.  The blue flyer with all specific rules & guidelines are posted in classrooms. 1st prize is a free yearbook.  If the student with the winning design has already purchased a yearbook, the money will be refunded. Deadline to submit entry is November 1.

Need a Creative Outlet?  Mon., Aug. 30, Lunch Recess in F-205:  We are forming a place & time for creative people to come together & discuss, work, play, & simply be around other creative types.  Join the group for a lunch time vision quest in room F-205 on August 30, 2010.  (See Ms. Long for more information).

Project Graduation Community Fundraiser: Precinct Officials are still needed & training is available until the beginning of September. Juniors & seniors willing to work as precinct officials on either the Primary Election or General Election Day can earn money towards Project Graduation. Training days are being held until the beginning of September. For more information contact Lauren Anderson at 270-7749.
