Running Start

The Running Start program was created by the Hawaii State Legislature in 2000. This program allows all high school juniors and seniors to apply for enrollment in the University of Hawaii system (except for the Manoa campus) if they:

  • Pass a standardized admission test
  • Pay all applicable costs (scholarships are available for financially eligible students)
  • Enroll in any 100 or higher level course

Students who participate in the program receive dual credit (high school and college) if they successfully complete a course. Detailed information and the application can be accessed at www.hawaii.edu/runningstart.or view the brochure here.

If you have questions on the Running Start program please contact 12th grade counselor, Karla Okazaki: 573-8700 Ext. 233 or 11th grade counselor, Sylvia Frerking: 573-8700 Ext. 232
