There are students in 9th, 10th & 11th grades who have not picked-up their Honors/AP English summer assignments. Mr. Fisher says, “Students interested in taking Honors or AP courses next year, please see the following teachers to pick-up your summer work:

Wed., May 22 Dismissal at 2pm: All Kekaulike Complex schools will be switching the Wednesday & Friday dismissal time: Wed, May 22's dismissal time will be 2pm, & Fri., May 24's dismissal time will be 1:15pm.
LAST DAY, Fri., May 24: Teachers & counselors will be released for their summer break the same day as students. Students will be dismissed at 1:15pm. Parents who need to contact a teacher or counselor, should do so as soon as possible & not wait til next week.
The 21st Century Learning Community at Baldwin High School is pleased to inform students of a variety of summer offerings. There are credit classes, half-credit classes and not-for-credit options. All instruction is free of charge thanks to the 21st Century Grant. All classes are open to all high school students entering grade 9-12 who meet any prerequisite requirements (most classes have none). Join the HSPLS Summer Reading Programs @ your Library from June 2 through July 6. Registration for the free five-week programs at public libraries begins on Tuesday, May 28.
Participants who visit their library and read at least one book per week are eligible to receive a free weekly reading incentive, while supplies last. This year’s theme is:
- Teen (students entering grade 7 through 2013 high school graduates) – “Beneath the Surface” will motivate teens to find out what’s beneath the surface of the earth, the ocean, history, mainstream popular culture, and even under your own skin. Participating teens may also enter a lucky drawing to win a Notebook and other awesome prizes. For further information, contact your local library.

Native Hawaiian Summer School Assistance Program: Applications are now being accepted for summer school scholarships:
1. Hawai`i DOE summer schools
2. Select private summer schools*
3. Students entering grades 1st through 12th
4. Financial eligibility requirements
5. Preference to students of Hawaiian ancestry
6. Documentation of student attendance & performance
7. Applicants must show proof of financial eligibility.
Preference is given to student of Hawaiian History & awards are made of 1st come, 1st served basis. Apply early to improve your chance of acceptance. Deadline to apply is May 24, 2013. Cheerleading JV Team Try-Out Clinic for Incoming 9th Graders: The Try-Out Application Form is available at Kalama Intermediate School Office. Please read what to wear, etc., for safety. Students are to bring it with them to DAY 1 of Tryouts, May 28! (See schedule below) Guys & Girls are welcomed to join!

Flowers Needed by Wed., May 15th 2pm for Graduation Day: Fresh long stemmed flowers, ginger, fern, ti leaf, foliage, etc. may be dropped off at the school office by 2pm on Wed., May 15th for decoration of the graduation stage. Donations are welcome from students, parents, & community members. Parent(s) & Staff assistance to help with decorating the stage would be greatly appreciated too.
