Now it's your turn to write a folk tale. Your story can be entirely new or a modern adaptation of a traditional tale. Please look at the rubric under assessment 4 to make sure you include the criteria for the grade that you would like.

Step 1: Choose the form of your story. (Helpful hints are printed below)

• Fable or a pourquoi story: decide what your story will teach or explain.
• Fairy tale: decide who the "good" and "bad" characters will be, what task the good characters must perform, and what magic will help them perform it.
• Trickster tale: decide which animal will be the trickster, which animal will be the victim of the trick, and what the victim will learn through his/her encounter with the trickster.
• Legend: decide what real-life person you'll use as a main character, and what unusual strengths or super powers this hero/heroine will have.

Step 2: After you have revised and edited your story, ask a friend or adult to read yourstory. Or read your story aloud to a group of friends. Make final changes.

Step 3: Add graphics to your story by using Hyperstudio, Kid Pix, ClarisWorks Drawing or AppleWorks Drawing, or by scanning your original drawings.

Step 4: The completed project should be saved on a disk. The disk should be mailed to ____________________________ for your final grade. Make sure you make yourself a copy on another disk as the one that is sent will not be returned.
