Makaha Elementary School, 2005-2006

SCHOOL COMMUNITY COUNCIL MEETING: October 12, 2005
I. WELCOME, CALL TO ORDER: The SCC meeting was called to order at 3:35 PM at the MES Library.
II. MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING: The minutes of the last meeting was approved.
III. APPROVAL OF REVISED BYLAWS
After discussion, members agreed by concensus to strike the section in Artile VII, Section 4, which states, "...of which at least 50% are parents and community. The revised Bylaws were then approved.
IV. DECISION-MAKING!
a. SSC's ROLE IN VENDING MACHINES: SCC Council members were informed of their role in selecting a vending machine on campus. Lynn will find out by the next meeting whether either company has a 10-selection machine, price breakdowns, and profit margins. SCC members present also appointed school organizations/activities (recess, Student Council, JPOs, etc.) as recipients of vending machine profits.
V. SSIR AS A FOUNDATION FOR ACADEMIC/FINANCIAL PLAN
a. Please read the attached school SSIR (School Status and Improvement Report) to get a sense of Makaha Elementary School's profile. This is part of the data that the principal uses to write academic/financial plans.
VI. COMMUNITY MEETING: WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2005
a. Schedule for the evening:
i. 5:00 Welcome and Introductions (Nelson)
ii. 5:10 SCC Introductions, Roles, and Progress Report (Momi)
iii. 5:30 Standards-Based Report Cards (District)
iv. 6:00 Math Games! (Susan)
v. 7:00 Dinner (Stew and Rice) (Thelma/David)
vi. 8:00 Aloha
b. The Academic and Financial Plans will not be ready for sharing; budget has not been approved by the Board of Education. Discussion/input for plans tabled until further details are available.
