Technology Intensive Projects

More intensive technology projects: (choose at least one)

(1) Vocabulary Development

List 6 to 10 words that are new to you (one per page for the first draft). Write the definition or meaning as used in the story and include the sentence (in quotation marks) from the story that contains the word. Using Kid Pix, after writing the word, its definition and sentence, illustrate the meaning and compile into a booklet after printing out the pages. You can also use the Kid Pix slide show feature to present all your work to your classmates. Send your work via an e-mail attachment.

See sample work.

(2) Create a 3-D model product or diorama.

Create a 3-D model or diorama of the fantasy story. Then take a digital photo or camera shot and scan. Explain the components of the diorama in a paragraph on a display card. Include the title and author and describe the scene depicted. The following questions can guide you.

What is happening?

Where and when does the scene take place?

What character or characters are shown and what are they doing?

What problems are being faced

What main idea is being expressed?

Finally after sending to the Genre webmaster, your picture can be posted to a website.

(3) Participate in a chat or discuss your story online
