Pokemon Chapter Book #1: I Choose You! adapted by Tracey West (submitted by the librarian)

This first chapter book based on the popular Pokemon cartoon series shows how a boy named Ash selected Pikachu as his Pokemon (pocket monster) and their initial adventures together on their journey to train and capture every Pokemon they can find. I thought it was fun and entertaining.

Star Wars Episode I: The Visual Dictionary by David West Reynolds (submitted by the librarian)

This is a beautiful book full of photos from the movie. It introduces many characters including a young Anakin Skywalker, members of the Jedi Council, teen Queen Amidala who is trying to regain control of her planet of Naboo from the Trade Federation, funny Jar Jar Binks, the villains (like Darth Maul), and many others in this Star Wars "Phantom Menace" episode. I would rate this book excellent and awesome.

The Guinness 1999 Book of Records (submitted by the librarian)

This is a colorful compilation of world Guinness records in different fields like sports, music, art, people, the body, and nature. The pictures are exceptional and the format is very inviting to browse through. I think this book is terrific and informative. A new Guinness World Records 2000 Millenium Edition has also been published.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling (submitted by Wendy)

Can you imagine being an orphan brought up by mean relatives then finding out that you're a wizard? This is the first of a series about Harry Potter who enrolls at Hogwarts School to learn magic. You will enjoy reading about ghosts, hatching a dragon, centaurs, a three-headed dog, and other very interesting creatures and people. Check out the Unofficial Harry Potter Fan Club and the ThinkQuest Jr. site on The Magical World of Harry Potter. Warner Brothers will be producing the movie about Harry Potter.
