| The
creation of the section was the result of the department's downsizing
and
reorganization due to severe budgetary shortfalls during the 1995-96
fiscal
year. Reorganization severely affected the Office of Business Services
with
the abolishment of the seven regional district business offices.
Although
recognized that the district business offices provided exemplary
service
to the schools in the past, it was decided that the consolidation of
all
business support functions at the state organizational level would be
more
cost effective than the maintenance of seven district business offices.Click

Purpose:The
School Support Section is a central support office for business-related
matters regarding policies and procedures pertinent to the Office of
Business Services. As a service center to the department's 260 plus
schools and 7
district and 5 state offices, assistance to educational officers,
administrators,
and support staff is accomplished through information dissemination,
on-site
support and in-service training. |

Meet
the Staff:The
School Support Office is administered by an educational officer, two
accountants,
a user support technician and one support person.
