Challenger Center Hawaii an exciting, hands-on facility which utilizes space exploration as a theme and enables students to work in cooperative teams to solve real-life mathematics, science, and technology problems during a space flight simulation.
The Center is comprised of a realistic Mission Control modeled after NASA's Johnson Space Center and a futuristic Space Station which provides students with a simulated space flight experience. The simulated missions run for two hours and are offered to public and private school students in grades six through eight. Hawaii's learning center is part of a growing network of learning centers which have been established in the United States, Great Britain and Canada by the Challenger Center for Space Science Education.
Opened in 1993, Challenger Center Hawaii is located on the Barbers Point Elementary School campus and operated by the Leeward District Department of Education.
