Technology & Telecommunications for Teachers (T3)
1999 - 2000

The Department of Education's Technology and Telecommunications for Teachers (T3) Program is designed to prepare school leaders who will infuse appropriate technology into instruction to enhance student learning. In addition, students will develop a network of resources to support a virtual learning environment. The program models and uses technologies to enhance instruction for students: webpage design and development, email, chats, threaded discussions, video conferencing, telephone conferencing, telephone and the Internet. The goals of the program are to prepare Hawaii's in-service teachers to assume leadership roles in their schools in order to:

  • develop standards-based curriculum that utilizes technology to support learning;
  • integrate and infuse appropriate technology into the curriculum and staff development;
  • develop a network of resources to provide assistance to schools;
  • develop a train-the-trainer model of staff development; and
  • focus on the implications of the accelerated technological changes on education.
