Natural Diasters: Social Studies Content Standard : FORCES THAT SHAPE THE EARTH 19. Students analyze the scientific view of how the Earth's surface is formed. In other words, forces such as earthquakes, volcanic activity, waves, wind, water and ice help shape our earth surface. For example, an active volcano on the Big Island continues to change the shape of the island.
