Elsie H. Wilcox Elementary School is located in central Lihue on the island of Kauai. Wilcox School's 1996-1997 enrollment is 962 students. It is serviced by 49 teachers and 31 classified personnel and 11 certificated/classified support staff. The support staff include: a Students of Limited English Proficiency (SLEP) teacher, a Video Production and Success Compact Resource Teacher, A technology Facilitator and Chorus Teacher, an Internet/Starlab teacher, Librarian/Media Specialist, Librarian Aide, Special Education staff, a Children's Day Transition Center and Art teacher, a Physical Fitness and Education teacher, a Speech Therapist, Communication Aide, Lower and Upper Elementary Counselors, a Parent Community Network Coordinator. District resource personnel housed at the school are Success Compact, SLEP, Speech and A+ After School Program Coordinator.
Technology has changed and influenced the way we live and will continue doing so. In response to the challenge of preparing children for citizenship in a rapidly changing society continuously filled with technological advances and global interdependence, Elsie H. Wilcox has devised this strategic plan.
